Cor’s (dirty) mind is a joy forever…

Cor is famous for his humor over the last 25 years. His character can also be described by the the Dutch saying “Stille wateren hebben diepe gronden”.

An example of this was his Dr Ruth act and Sinterklaas poem, probably in 1985 (only Cor can tell).

The one-page poem below has funny lines on existing IRC staff: Dick, Michel, Jan Teun, Bettie, Lauren and Christine.

First thesaurus group meeting

Spot Cor, Bettie (plus then INCO chief Toon van Dam and PRAS Moniek Zijdemans) among the participants of the first thesaurus group meeting in December 1985, in front of the office at the Van Markenlaan in Rijswijk. The others in the picture were documentation experts of:

• the Association Francaise pour l’Etude des Eaux (France);
• the Water Research Center (UK);
• CEPIS, the Pan American Center for Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences (Peru);
• CIEH, the Comite Interafrican d’Etudes Hydraulic (Burkina Faso);
• the Environmental Sanitation Information Centre at AIT (Thailand).

Based on their advice the second multilingual INTERWATER Thesaurus for Community Water Supply and Sanitation was published by IRC in 1987 using MINISIS softfware and hardware:

Nearly 20 years later, in 2006 IRC and partners put updated versions in English, French and Spanish online.
