SUMMARY
Typology / Objective / Time / Target group / Situation: This sheet gives you instructions on how to work with models and Cor principles for improving your Cor Dutch.
DESCRIPTION
Objectives: To improve your Dutch & learn about Dutch culture.
Output:
Improved Dutch vocabulary & fun
Topics: An overview of different models and considerations for the design of your Do Dutch Yourself
WHEN TO USE
Situation: It is appropriate to pay attention to the setting of the room for all sorts of sessions, but especially in venues, which are mainly used for meetings, presentations and more traditional ways of training and teaching.
Target group: Non Dutch IRC colleagues, anybody who wants to improve and play around with Cor
Time: Plan at least 30 minutes before a session for checking and (re-)arranging the room and your model /colleague
WHAT U NEED
Materials: First of all you need the picture below

  • A pair of scissors
  • Tape
  • A Camera
  • And the face of a colleague, e.g. the ones below:

METHODOLOGY

  1. Print out Cor’s photo at any desired size. Take into account the face of your model
  2. Take your scissors and carefully cut out Cor’s face
  3. Now take the tape. Cut two pieces of tape and stick them on Cor’s picture on both sides of Cor’s head. It’s not necessary that the pieces of tape have the same size
  4. Now get your camera and approach a model, preferably a colleague. If you plan to develop more than 1 Cor word, make sure there is a nice balance between male and female colleagues
  5. Give a short explanation to the model. Keep it simple
  6. Stick Cor’s face on the face of your model and take a picture

If your colleague doesn’t show any empathy with the objective of your activity

  • Ask another colleague for help, distract your model, and stick Cor’s picture on his or her face anyways. This approach can be very efficient
  • Now share this picture with all your non-Dutch colleagues at IRC. You can help to improve their Cor Dutch!!
  • To improve the learning around the learning of learning Dutch, and to actually build our capacities and not to forget to become sustainable. It is essential that you capture the process in one or another creative way. You can either write a story about it, have yourself interviewed, make a movie about it and post it on YouTube or keep us all updated throughout a Learn Cor Dutch blog

Setting: You can think of any setting you like: e.g. TOILET
Setting:
Put your models around a toilet, stick Cor’s face on each of the models faces. You now have created a new word. The Cordon sanitaire. Which is actually a French word, but also used in Dutch.

VARIATIONS
Be creative in finding the right location and setting. Some variations:
Variations

  • Garden / Park: Being outside in fresh air and surrounded by nature has a relaxing influence. Sit in the garden or go to a park. Find yourself a nice and your model a nice spot.
  • Museum: There are very nice places in museums, especially for working in small groups. It can be a very inspiring environment and it offers many opportunities for relaxation and recreation.
  • Learning by walking around: Talk in small groups when walking. The environment can be inspiring; walking makes it easier to be silent now and then
  • Lazy chairs: Putting your model in a comfortable in lazy chair relaxes its mind and makes people look like Cor in a different way.
